From the most celebrated actor the land has ever gave birth to, to the most beloved vice-president whom  the nations hope dwelled on, to the young multi-talented urban musician-cum graphic designer, to the generational greatest musician the motherland has ever produced, Malawi is soaking wet with tears. Death has eroded irreplaceable sons of the nation whom countrymen deemed destined for greatness.  Malawi will forever remember and regret the tragic deaths Dr Saulos Klaus Chilima, Vice-president who got killed in a plane clash with 8 others onboard including former first lady Madam Shannil Dzimbiri, the death of the greatest musician Lucius Banda nicknamed Soldier, the death of the most talented actor Hope Chisanu and of coarse the death of young promising urban music and graphic designer Kennedy Spyral Mwenya. It is shocking how so many precious souls can be lost separately in a period of 4 weeks. May there souls rest in eternal peace. The Mother Malawi will never forget...

URBAN MUSIC ENCOURAGING YOUTHS INTO POLITICS

Image
By Wongani Rudoh Nzima Music has been a powerful tool in politics since the 80's. Activists such as Bob Marley have been using their music inorder to influence change. As the 2019 Malawi tripartite elections are pending, the warm heart of Africa has witnessed the activeness of local urban artists in local politics and this has been greatly appreciated by local  citizens. 2014 tripartite elections marked the beginning of urban music intervention into Malawis politics when one of the presidential candidates Joyce Banda of Peoples Party (PP) included an urban song titled " Odi uko!"  which comprised of rap and dancehall artists.
